Ever get impatient for something, or someone, to mature? To be fully functioning - serving it’s purpose? Well, I’m experiencing this with the actual Isababyblankee website. This blog is just temporary until my computer pro (in-house) can get all the kinks worked out of our new site. It is so painstaking and tedious!! Thank you to everyone who is visiting my blog. If you have questions on pricing and availability, please leave a comment! I would love to hear from you.
The new Full Moon Forest line of blankees is going to be so pretty! Some local babies are already enjoying the handmade blankees and burping up on the burpies! A recent addition to the line is a cool green print featuring hidden bunnies, backed with 100% cotton old fashioned chenille. The 30″x30″ size makes it perfect for napping, car seat warmth, or just cuddling. Very textural for new little fingers to explore.
Working on exercising patience while working on the website. In the meantime, if you are planning for a baby shower and need some cool personalized party favors, check out www.PartyFavorDepot.com. Great little finishing touches to honor the new parents and baby.
Happy Monday! Check out the latest addition to Isababyblankee designs. If you look closely at the fabric, you can see sleeping owls amidst the pattern. Today’s moms love sophisticated and contemporary designs for their babies and I think this combination would be a great choice for any new mom and her baby girl.
A new feature is the appliqued monogram. The special little detail for a uniquely personalized baby blanket. Also included with the blankee is a 10×15″ burp pad. The burp pad has an additional layer of 100 percent cotton white flannel, to increase absorbancy. We know how much babies can burp up! Again, the blankees are 30×30″ and are the perfect size for a receiving blanket or light weight cover when nursing.
At last posting, I was looking forward to having some photos of my latest babyblankee projects. Check these out! Each blanket is made of two layers. One side is 100% premium cotton, like the kind sold in independent quilt shops. Very soft and will get softer with each washing. And did I mention that all fabric has been prewashed in extra-mild detergent to remove any manufacturing residues? If not, I did now! The other side may be 100% cotton flannel or it may be wonderful, finger pleasing 100% cotton chenille (like those old bedspreads).
This blankee set features fabric from Andover’s Duck, Duck, Goose collection. Aren’t those little duckies cute? Talk about getting your “ducks in a row”! The reverse side is a very soft blue mini-dot flannel. Very soothing for little bodies. The blankee measures 30″ x 30″ and is ample for using as a receiving blanket, crib blanket, or anytime you want to lay baby down on a clean surface. The burp pad measures about 10 x 18″ and combines the duck print with an orange print reminiscent of duck footprints. All burp pads have an additional layer of cotton flannel to increase absorbency - an important detail when catching those burps.
This blankee makes me laugh! It was a special request for a young mom who loves to cook. The fabric is from Michael Miller’s Sunnyside Up collection (which is very hard to find - it is no longer being printed). Eggs and bacon on lively green 100% cotton and backed with Moda’s 100% cotton chenille in ivory. Visually fun and finger pleasing! The burp pad combines the eggs and bacon print with an orange print that looks like duck footprints. With the extra cotton flannel layer, this is one absorbent and cute burp catcher! The blankee measures 30″ x 30″ and the burp pad is 10 x 18″.
Happy February everybody! The shortest month of the year (and the coldest) is here. Must mean spring is around the corner. I’ve been busy constructing receiving blankets and coordinating burp pads and soon there should be some photos to put on the site. We are still trudging along with an actual website but, if anyone is interested in ordering, please leave a comment with this blog and I’ll get back with you. Remember, all cotton fabrics from premium fabric manufacturers. Everything has been prewashed in extra-mild detergents.
Why an isababyblankee you might ask? Not only do I enjoy making these handmade cuddlies, but I also have become discouraged with the glut of cheaply made imports. Buy American!! Also stay tuned for organic baby products to be added to the website - our little babies are worth it! Don’t put petroleum based products on that precious new skin! Later!!
Happy New Year! The year end celebrations are over and the halls that were once “decked” now need to be cleared so this sewer of fine baby blankees can get some work done. Ideas abound, my fine cotton supplier is ready, and I’m totally mastering my brand new Bernina!! Yes - the top of the line now resides in my home. I may never drive a Mercedes but I sew on a Bernina. Always have been a cheap date
I’m finding it easy to get distracted by the variety of fabrics available. So many beautiful designs. But I’m going to stay focused on contemporary, fun fabrics with maybe a bit of zany. Traditional, pastel baby goodies are plentiful in stores but contemporary, bold colored products take a bit more effort to find and that is where isababyblankee.com comes in!
Stay tuned as I get some finished products photographed and posted. Watch for the hidden forest animals!

I’m a scritcher - are you? That quirky little habit that I know so many people have of running touchy-feely fabric through the fingers when one thinks no one is looking :). My favorite is satin binding but there are other preferences. There appears to be some genetic tendency to this phenomena in my immediate family - you know who I’m talking about!
Well, anyway… I recently acquired some very fuzzy, all cotton chenille to my fabric collection for baby blankees. It appeals to the purist in me - all cotton - and rather retro in its texture. It’s going to be a perfect compliment to the Full Moon Forest fabric which features hidden squirrels, owls, and rabbits in the fabric pattern.
The chenille is going to offer some incredible “scritching” opportunities. Oh..maybe some satin binding should be added in there somewhere.
The goal now is to enjoy Christmas and plan for some serious sewing sessions once the new year is here. Merry Christmas everyone!!
The creative process is what has been missing from a lot of my previous endeavors, jobs, etc. Can you relate? It’s so easy to get caught up in the “gotta make money and pay my bills” syndrome and forget about what makes one tick.
Exciting options keep revealing themselves Trying to keep track of cool, modern and different fabrics for today’s babies and moms. Don’t you enjoy a creative opportunity and challenge? Oh my, and all the info regarding organic baby care products!! And why did we think petroleum based stuff was good to rub all over babes and adults?
I have another website that has been exciting to develop but I didn’t actually have a hand in developing and making the products. www.PartyFavorDepot.com carries all kinds of personalized party favors, especially for baby showers. The amount of computer techno geeky stuff my brain is trying to retain is amazing. But I really enjoy choosing the fabrics and actually making the baby blankets and other cool things.
Rambling on :). My latest fabs are on the way - Full Moon Forest and cotton chenilles. Fun!
Oh it is so easy to get distracted and lose focus of what I’m supposed to be doing! I’ve been busy with my “real job” (which helps pay bills but that’s about it), Thanksgiving and Christmas planning, and researching vast amounts of options for fabrics for baby blankees and other fun baby things! Can’t let my blog time slip - how else will the news get out?
I know I tell others that they are “over-thinking” a plan or project, but I am so guilty of doing that very thing! I love looking at all the baby blankee fabrics and the color options. But I’ve been told by my hubby that I need to FOCUS on a few and move ahead! Full Moon Forest by Moda (as seen at my sister’s website: www.mycotton.biz) is what I’ll be using for little girl items. And Baby Geniuses is an adorable, bright line that I think will be most excellent for little dudes and girls. Add in some plush minky fabric and soft flannels and what modern mom and her cool baby wouldn’t love these!
Stay tuned and thanks for your comments.

It’s Christmas shopping time again and I’m on the lookout for fun, cool things for my Isababy (and the rest of the family, of course). She loves hats, or at least this one little purple polka dot bucket hat that she has had since she was a few months old. I bought it for her because I didn’t want that little bald head getting too much sun. She didn’t really take to it until this past summer though. Now she has pretty much outgrown it but is slow to accept the new sun hat I made for her. Maybe I’ll try a winter rendition.
That one was fun to make so I think I’m going to add little caps into my inventory of fun, cool baby stuff for fun, cool moms. I have a great supplier of contemporary cotton fabrics and these would make great baby hats with a modern edge!
But back to Christmas shopping!! I get sidetracked so easily! I get this neat little catalog in the mail that features all kinds of “retro” products that remind me of my childhood. Really fun was the huge Colorforms kit!! Black slick vinyl backboard and all kinds of little colorful vinyl shapes for kids to create any kind of scene! I remember the one I had - one could dress up the little girl in all kinds of outfits to match the weather. Little yellow raincoat with red boots and an umbrella, etc. It was fun - I promise!
Oh, there used to be a time when I could run into the grocery store, grab whatever looked enticing off the shelf and buzz home. Not any more. Anyone who is into eating healthier, naturally, or organically knows what I’m talking about. All kinds of strange words show up on the ingredients listed on the labels. While I’ve gotten used to food labels, I’m just getting the hang of cleaning and personal care products. It is an education!
In the realm of baby care products, I’ve found that so many major brands contain petroleum based ingredients. That can’t be a good thing to spread on tender new skin! And parabens are synthetic preservatives - probably not great for baby skin. It can be overwhelming checking out the labels. It sure is time consuming. So I’m on the lookout for natural and healthy alternatives for skin care - babies and everyone else. Time to do some more research. Later!
